Over 40 years ago Inter-Faith Ministries came into existence because of the tireless efforts of a group of individuals and congregations. At the heart of IFM’s work are the dedicated volunteers that have run Inter-Faith Ministries Food Bank & Community Clothes Closet. From the beginning community members and congregations have given of their time, talent and hearts to provide support for a community in need.

Today Inter-Faith Ministries has over 100 dedicated, regular volunteers that work at IFM. Volunteers assist staff with answering phones, mailings, newsletters and special projects. In our Food Pantry volunteers interview clients, stock shelves, fill client orders, and provide referrals while kindly and empathetically offering support. Our Food Coalition and Warehouse is manned by volunteers that drive throughout Stanislaus County picking up donated food from our community partners to include congregations and businesses.

In the Community Clothes Closet, volunteers sort, launder, fold and hang clothing, and linens daily in preparation for the day’s clients. The Clothes Closet volunteers then assist clients with item selection, bag their clothing & household items and process the clients receiving services.

Inter-Faith is also a work site for ARC of Stanislaus County offering developmentally challenged individuals an opportunity to volunteer one day per week.

The devotion and hard work of our volunteers continues to make a tangible difference – from the beginning and still today, they have been the cornerstone of our existence and enabled us to serve a growing and fragile population.
